I played this creation on the base PS4 model with a dualshock 4 but it is accessible on PS4Pro/PS5 as well.
Optionally supports VR which is the recommended playstyle suggested by the creator.
I played this creation in the standard mode.
Since this is the first Dreams creation review I need to explain what this is and how the review is structured. It will be much the same as a regular review for the most part but I will be delving into constructive feedback as well just to give creators clarity and time to fix these issues. The overall rating is based off the Dreams PS4 rating system, which is either a like or no like at all depending on how you feel about it.
For my first review it will be a game labeled as a "horror experience" by the creator.

Sweet Dreams certainly has many horror elements, but has no real sense of danger or fear. Admittedly there was one exception at the very beginning when I audibly gasped as I was caught unawares. Beside that one moment much of the experience was closer to that of a theme park than a true horror.
Everything would be fine it wasn't for a few distracting elements that really detract from the game. The most obvious nuisance is the Hud; speech bubbles appear mid screen, big and bold but ill fitting the setting. Control view in the top left can't be toggled off from what I could tell.
Mechanically there is a skull collection counter that is thankfully optional as it bugged out on me. The first skull I picked up displayed my counter as 6 of 20. I assumed this was some sort of bug, but it didn't fix itself when I restarted. I don't believe I played this before but just be mindful to reset progress if there is any.
Speaking of restarting, the only reason I had to in the first place was because I encountered a game breaking bug with a shut door, which was within the second room of the house. It's basically the "puppet room".

Personally I'd say the best part of the game has to be the maze at the beginning. Likewise the weakest part would be the entire house section, but that may be due to the fact that I've already played through most of the featured rooms in a previous compilation.
Back in 2020 for Halloween: Media Molecule, The developers of Dreams compiled a collection of user created rooms that formed three expansive scare house experiences called "All Hallows' Dreams". The creator of Sweet Dreams does use a select few rooms featured in the compilation, but they have remixed a few parts of each section to form a cohesive gameplay loop.
If you have already played "All Hallows's Dreams" then you've played much of the mansion section of Sweet Dreams. If you haven't played it yet than you might enjoy Pulsate's creation a lot more.
No Thumbs Up
Dreams is a game developed by Media Molecule for the PS4/PS5 in 2020.
